Hey everyone! I wrapped up Black History Month alongside some incredibly talented artists, creatives, and photographers during a special photo walk in the city of Compton. The walk was a collaborative effort to reflect on and connect through what it truly means to live in and know this city.

The city of Compton carries a reputation rooted in its complicated past, but this event aimed to shift that narrative. The organizers created space for us to highlight the beauty of the city and honor its rich history. It was fun walking through the neighborhood and ending up at the Moonwater Farm which is the coolest art and agriculture farm. I never wouldve expected it to be a whole mini farm looking at it from the street.

We were very deep and it was cool coming across some of the residents wanting to know what was going on and they even gave some of the photograpers a bit of their life story.

The photo walk ended at the Compton Art & History Museum where they currently have a curated exhibition titled The Power of Love. According to their site: “An exhibition that explores Love as more than a feeling, it is a force, a practice, and a lifeline.” Exhibited were some great pieces from female artists.

The Compton Photo Walk was such a dope experience, and I’m grateful to have been part of it. Thank you to @zaymonae @the85mil @developedincompton and @compton_isnt_dangerous for putting together an awesome event for the community
